The Rechitsa River Port celebrated its 80th anniversary!
On March 15, 2024, a solemn ceremony honoring the team of the branch of the Belarusian River Shipping Company, the Rechitsa River Port, as well as the enterprise's labor veterans, was held in the House of Culture in Ozershchina.
The Rechitsa River Port (formerly the Rechitsa pier) has been located on the right bank of the Dnieper River since its inception. The main activity of the enterprise is the loading and unloading of goods, the transportation of goods and passengers by inland waterway transport. The first mentions of a pier in Rechitsa date back to 1781, when the Minsk Provincial News indicated the presence of a pier on the Dnieper. Before the pier was built, local residents were engaged in timber rafting to Ukraine.
In the 19th century, the development of the territory was accompanied by military conflicts between neighboring states, which negatively affected the economy region.
In 1856, the existence of the pier was again mentioned in archival documents. In 1881-1885, the construction of the Bryansk-Brest railway increased the pier's cargo turnover to 160 thousand poods.
Before the Great Patriotic War, the pier had a self-propelled and non-self-propelled fleet, including tugboats and wooden barges with a carrying capacity of 100-200 tons. The main cargo was building materials and raw materials.
During the war, the fleet was completely destroyed. After the liberation of the city of Rechitsa on November 17, 1943, the pier resumed operation on March 15, 1944. The restoration of the fleet and infrastructure began, new passenger lines were opened.
In the post-war years, traffic volumes gradually recovered. In the 1950s, the company received new equipment and modernized the fleet, which increased productivity labor.
In 1975, the pier was renamed the Rechitsa River Port. In the 1980s, a new port was built on the left bank of the Dnieper, which significantly increased cargo turnover.
After the collapse of the USSR, transportation volumes decreased, but since 2003 the financial situation of the enterprise has stabilized.
In 2010, the Rechitsa Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Yard was merged with the Belarusian River Shipping Company, which expanded the production capabilities of the enterprise.
Currently, a professional team of specialists works at the port. The company's employees continue to develop the traditions of river transport and ensure high quality of work.
